A different Christmas. Once again.

It's a good thing that we don't always know what the future holds. If I look one year back in time, I'm relieved I didn't know that we once again would experience a very different Christmas.

R8 Property made it through 2021 in a good way, but my thoughts also go to our extended "R8 family" which has experienced a lot of restrictions and insecurity, such as the restaurants Jacob & Gabriel, Strøm, Sjøslag and Burglar.

I hope each and every one of us make an effort in supporting local business this Christmas: Buy your Christmas presents from a local store, or invite family and friends to a lovely lunch in a local restaurant. It means so much to those concerned.

A sustainable year.

The past year has – fortunately – mainly been business as usual. One of our most important focus areas

One of our most important focus areas throughout the year has been sustainability. Sure, sustainability can often be characterized as a buzzword and something "everyone" is concerned with, but for us it's been important to integrate this as a focus area throughout the organization.

The more we've worked strategically with sustainability, the more humble we've become. It's an enormous field, and we are constantly learning something new.

During the last year, R8 Property has been a participant in the football club Odds Ballklubb and BDO's project “Støpt for framtida”. We're also preparing the company's very first sustainability report, and in that matter we've defined our sustainability goals and prepared different analyses.

I got the possibility to talk about this in Oslo Business Forum's podcast "All in", and also about how the working life in the future will affect the real estate industry.

Vacant premises in Norway's most attractive city

We're proud to belong to Norway's most attractive cities; Porsgrunn and Skien. Now, we have vacant premises in Porsgrunn Business Park – modern, gorgeous, flexible premises along the riverbank.

Personally, it felt as if an era was over, when we recently sold the classic, yellow building at Osebro in Porsgrunn. This was one of the first commercial properties I bought. Therefore, it's good to know that the building is now in the best hands at AT Skog, which will use the property as its new head office.

And with that, I'd like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!

All the best,
Emil Eriksrød
